The Juggling Act

Every now and then things and people need grounding. It’s so easy to get caught up trying to be bigger, betterr and faster. So easy to lose track of  truly meaningful things in life.

So when you’re feeling unbalanced and need a reminder of what life is really all about, read the snippet below…It’s from an old, great speech that the former Coca-Cola CEO, Brian Dyson gave at Georgia Tech’s 1996 commencement.

“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit … and you’re keeping all of these in the air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same.

You must understand that and strive for Balance in your life.”

The speech goes on describing tips to successfully achieve balance. If you have a few minutes, a quick google search will result in the full speech- which is definitely worth a read! In the meantime, Ommmmm……..
