I recently had the pleasure of visiting the brand new Design within Reach, in Cambridge. If you recall, the company recently closed both local locations in favor of merging and upgrading into a new, large space- and I couldn’t be more excited! This new studio is located pretty much across the street from its former location on Mass. Ave. The one notable difference is its size! The rumors are true…well, sort of. Many of us have heard through the grape vine that the Boston studio may be closing. Turns out it’s true. Although I’m sad to see this location go, the good news is that both Massachusetts locations will be merging into one large studio. I’m hoping that soon we’ll see the return of the foyer in new construction projects. A foyer is welcoming, practical in the cold months and is a great buffer to set the tone between the front door and the rest of the home. Big news in Massachusetts this week… Governor Deval Patrick signed Bill 4303!!!! This is big news for Interiors Designers in this state for a couple reasons; first the profession which is already legally defined, is now expanding our scope and practice rights in the state and second we can now bid on state jobs….finally!
